The roadmap back to playing sport

For anyone who enjoys playing the likes of golf, tennis, grassroots football, or going swimming at their local leisure centre, this last year hasn’t been easy.

Subsequent lockdowns have forced sports clubs and leisure centres into closure, with members pining for their return.

The tides are, however, beginning to swing in the right direction, and the government’s roadmap out of lockdown includes the highly awaited return of the sports we love and once took for granted.

With Covid-19 infection rates falling, on February 22, 2021, Boris Johnson announced a roadmap out of lockdown. The Prime Minister confirmed that outdoor sports facilities in England will reopen to the public on March 29, 2021.

The country’s much-loved grassroots football will also start up again at the end of March, much to the delight of youngsters involved in grassroots football and their parents who are eager to get their children active in the fresh outdoors once more.

Indoor leisure centres will reopen at a slightly later date. The likes of leisure clubs and indoor swimming pools will open their doors to the public once more on April 12, 2021.

Insurance for sports and leisure venues

With outdoor and indoor sports centres and clubs opening imminently, it’s vital venues have the right insurance in place to help protect everyone involved at the clubs, including members, staff and spectators.
